About

UTK Mayuri is the University of Tennessee – Knoxville’s All-Female Premier Bollywood Fusion Dance Team that was established in 2017. Our mission as a dance team is to spread South Asian culture not only in the Knoxville community but across the country, through powerful performances and artistic storytelling. As South Asian-American women, we have a strong passion for dance and strive to fuse our cultures to showcase our multicultural identities.

Mayuri is a competitive team that travels across the U.S. to perform in collegiate competitions within the Desi Dance Network circuit. We aim to excel in these competitions and create close connections with other South Asian dancers in the dance community.

As a Bollywood fusion team, we blend Bollywood, Indian classical, and Indian folk dances with western contemporary and hip-hop dance styles. We take pride in exuding energy, poise, and passion with every performance we produce.
